Wednesday nights are set apart for me each week. I spend them with a group from church. We are a motley crew and I am probably old enough to be everyone’s Mum (I endure a good deal of age related banter most weeks) but I’m committed to it and them.
But today was different. This week no one could make it for one reason or another. So the whole evening opened up for me. The world was my oyster. Should I do something wild and paint the town red? No -something far more my scene awaited.
I decided to embrace my inner hermit. I locked the door, turned off my phone, switched off the laptop and for two hours indulged myself in a book. It was a little slice of heaven in an otherwise busy day. The ambience in my home was so serene and peaceful it was complete bliss.
I wouldn’t change my usual Wednesday nights but those two hours today felt like a gift.
